Ο Τουρκοκύπριος ηγέτης, Μουσταφά Ακιντζί, δήλωσε ότι, αν δεν υπάρξει τώρα συμφωνία για ομοσπονδιακή λύση, στο μέλλον μπορεί να υπάρξει μια διαφορετική λύση, όπου «δύο ίσα κράτη θα ζουν δίπλα-δίπλα».

Ο κ. Ακιντζί είπε ότι στόχος των διαπραγματεύσεων είναι η δημιουργία μιας ομοσπονδιακής δομής στη βάση της πολιτικής ισότητας. Οι Τουρκοκύπριοι, είπε, δεν μπορούν να απομονωθούν από τον κόσμο.

Ο Τουρκοκύπριος ηγέτης, αναφερόμενος και στο φεστιβάλ παιδιού που γίνεται στα κατεχόμενα, είπε ότι τελικά οι ξένες αντιπροσωπείες θα είναι πέντε αντί επτά, γιατί αυτές της Ρωσίας και της Σερβίας εμποδίστηκαν, λόγω της -κατά την έκφρασή του- «αδιάλλακτης στάσης της ελληνοκυπριακής διοίκησης».
