Ένα απανθρακωμένο πτώμα βρέθηκε στο πλοίο Norman Atlantic, το οποίο τυλίχθηκε στις φλόγες στις 28 Δεκεμβρίου. Εντοπίστηκε στο γκαράζ στη γέφυρα 4, όπου πιθανότατα ξέσπασε η πυρκαγιά, ενώ οι εισαγγελείς που ασχολούνται με την υπόθεση ανέβηκαν στο πλοίο. Το πτώμα μεταφέρθηκε στο Μπάρι, όπου ιατροδικαστές θα πρέπει να προχωρήσουν σε νεκροψία, η οποία, όμως, αναμένεται να απαιτήσει πολύ χρόνο διότι θα χρειαστεί τεστ DNA.

Σημειώνεται ότι είναι η πρώτη σορός που εντοπίζεται μετά τη ρυμούλκηση του πλοίου. Έτσι τα θύματα από τη ναυτική τραγωδία γίνονται 10 και οι αγνοούμενοι μειώνονται στους 18.
