Ένας Τούρκος στρατιώτης σκοτώθηκε σε μάχη ανάμεσα στις ένοπλες δυνάμεις και αντάρτες της αυτονομιστικής οργάνωσης Εργατικό Κόμμα Κουρδιστάν (PKK) στην πόλη Τσιζρέ της νοτιοανατολικής Τουρκίας, ανακοίνωσε το επιτελείο.

Ο στρατιώτης τραυματίστηκε βαριά και υπέκυψε στο νοσοκομείο όπου διακομίστηκε, σύμφωνα με τις ένοπλες δυνάμεις, ενώ επτά μέλη του PKK «εξουδετερώθηκαν».

Η Άγκυρα διεξάγει εκκαθαριστικές επιχειρήσεις εναντίον των αυτονομιστών σε πόλεις της νοτιοανατολικής Τουρκίας από τον Ιούλιο, όταν κατέρρευσε η διετής κατάπαυση του πυρός.

Το PKK θεωρείται τρομοκρατική οργάνωση από τις αρχές της Τουρκίας, των ΗΠΑ και των κρατών μελών της ΕΕ. Ο πόλεμος χαμηλής έντασης ο οποίος διαρκεί δεκαετίες στη νοτιοανατολική Τουρκία έχει στοιχίσει τη ζωή σε πάνω από 40.000 ανθρώπους.
