Η Ρωσία πρόκειται να αναπτύξει δύο νέες μεραρχίες στη δύση και μία στον νότο ως αντίδραση στην αύξηση της στρατιωτικής παρουσίας του ΝΑΤΟ κοντά στα σύνορά της, ανακοίνωσε ο Ρώσος υπουργός Άμυνας, Σεργκέι Σόιγκου.

Όπως αναφέρεται σε δημοσίευμα του Russia Today, το υπουργείο Άμυνας «λαμβάνει μια σειρά μέτρων για να απαντήσει στην αύξηση της στρατιωτικής παρουσίας του ΝΑΤΟ στα ρωσικά σύνορα» δήλωσε ο Σόιγκου την Τετάρτη. «Πριν το τέλος του έτους, δύο νέες μεραρχίες θα δημιουργηθούν στον Δυτικό Στρατιωτικό Τομέα και μία στον Νότιο Στρατιωτικό Τομέα».

Νωρίτερα είχαν υπάρξει αναφορές σε ρωσικά ΜΜΕ ότι τρεις νέες μεραρχίες, η καθεμία δύναμης 10.000 στρατιωτών, μπορούν να αναπτυχθούν στο Ροστόφ επί του Ντον, το Σμολένσκ και το Βορονέζ. Σημειώνεται ότι το ΝΑΤΟ ενισχύει τις δυνάμεις του στην Πολωνία, τις χώρες της Βαλτικής και αλλού από το 2014, λόγω προβληματισμών για τη θεωρούμενη επιθετική στάση της Ρωσίας κατά την κρίση της Ουκρανίας – με αποκορύφωμα την προσάρτηση της Κριμαίας.
