Με απόφαση του γ.γ. του ΟΗΕ θα τεθούν στη διάθεση της Επιτροπής για Αγνοούμενα Πρόσωπα στην Κύπρο τα αρχεία της Ειρηνευτικής Δύναμης, ώστε να επιταχυνθεί και να είναι αποτελεσματικότερη η προσπάθεια για τη διακρίβωση της τύχης των αγνοουμένων.

Ο Πρόεδρος της Κυπριακής Δημοκρατίας, Νίκος Αναστασιάδης, σε γραπτή δήλωσή του εκφράζει την ευαρέσκεια του, επειδή η απόφαση των Ηνωμένων Εθνών ήρθε ως αποτέλεσμα των διαβημάτων και του αιτήματος που έγινε από πλευράς της παρούσας κυπριακής κυβέρνησης. Ο κ. Αναστασιάδης αναμένει ότι ανάλογη ανταπόκριση θα βρει και το αίτημα προς την Τουρκία, ώστε να συνεργαστεί και να θέσει στη διάθεση της Επιτροπής τα αρχεία του τουρκικού στρατού για να δοθεί τέλος στην αγωνία και το δράμα που ζουν οι συγγενείς των αγνοουμένων, καταλήγει στη δήλωσή του.
