Δέκα γυναίκες έχασαν την ζωή τους από ναυάγιο που σημειώθηκε σε απόσταση είκοσι ναυτικών μιλίων από τις λιβυκές ακτές, όπως μεταδίδουν τα ιταλικά μέσα ενημέρωσης. Οι πρώτες βοήθειες παρασχέθηκαν από ναυτική μονάδα της ιταλικής ακτοφυλακής, η οποία κατάφερε να διασώσει 107 μετανάστες.

Το ναυάγιο, σύμφωνα με τις μέχρι τώρα πληροφορίες, προκλήθηκε από τις ακραίες καιρικές συνθήκες που επικρατούσαν στην περιοχή.

Οι αρχές συνεχίζουν τις έρευνες στην περιοχή του ναυαγίου.
