Σεισμική δόνηση μεγέθους 4,5 βαθμών της κλίμακας Ρίχτερ, σύμφωνα με τα πρώτα στοιχεία του Γεωδυναμικού Ινστιτούτου του Εθνικού Αστεροσκοπείου Αθηνών, σημειώθηκε στις 01:01 νότια της Κρήτης, και έγινε αισθητός τόσο στα νότια παράλια όσο και στην πόλη του Ηρακλείου.

Το επίκεντρο της δόνησης εντοπίζεται στο θαλάσσιο χώρο 36 χιλιόμετρα νοτιοανατολικά του Τυμπακίου και το εστιακό του βάθος υπολογίζεται στα 10 χιλιόμετρα.

Επίσης ασθενής σεισμός μεγέθους 4,4 βαθμών της κλίμακας Ρίχτερ σημειώθηκε τα ξημερώματα (2:19 π.μ.) βορειοδυτικά της Μυτιλήνης.

Σύμφωνα με τα πρώτα στοιχεία του Γεωδυναμικού Ινστιτούτου του Εθνικού Αστεροσκοπείου Αθηνών, το επίκεντρο του σεισμού ήταν στον θαλάσσιο χώρο 64 χλμ βορειοδυτικά της Μυτιλήνης, και το εστιακό του βάθος ήταν 11 χλμ.
