Όλη νύχτα σκάφη του Λιμενικού Σώματος και της Ελληνικής Ομάδας Διάσωσης αλλά και ελικόπτερο Super Puma ερευνούσαν στην ευρύτερη περιοχή του Πάσπαργου, μεταξύ Χίου και τουρκικών ακτών. Εκεί, σύμφωνα με πληροφορίες που έδωσαν μέλη μη κυβερνητικής οργανώσεως στο Λιμεναρχείο του νησιού, τρεις πρόσφυγες κολυμπούσαν, με κατεύθυνση από την Τουρκία στη Χίο.

Σύμφωνα με τις ίδιες πληροφορίες, οι τρεις φυγάδες κατέφυγαν στη νησίδα Πάσπαργος, που όμως αποτελεί τουρκικό έδαφος, οπότε και οι ολονύκτιες έρευνες γίνονταν στην ευρύτερη θαλάσσια περιοχή μπροστά την ακτή του χιώτικου Καρφά. Τελικά σήμερα τα ξημερώματα οι έρευνες που απέβησαν άκαρπες, σταμάτησαν.
