Αεροσκάφη της συριακής πολεμικής αεροπορίας εξαπέλυσαν αεροπορικά πλήγματα εναντίον θέσεων του Ισλαμικού Κράτους σε μια τοποθεσία ανατολικά της πόλης Ράκα αλλά και κοντά στα σύνορα της ομώνυμης επαρχίας με εκείνη του Ντέιρ Εζόρ, μετέδωσε η κρατική τηλεόραση της Συρίας.

Σύμφωνα με μια στρατιωτική πηγή των συριακών ενόπλων δυνάμεων από τις επιθέσεις αυτές "καταστράφηκαν πολλές βάσεις και οχήματα" που ανήκαν στην τζιχαντιστική οργάνωση.

Το Συριακό Παρατηρητήριο Ανθρωπίνων Δικαιωμάτων ανέφερε ότι αυτή ήταν η πρώτη φορά μετά από πολλές εβδομάδες που ο συριακός στρατός εξαπολύει επίθεση στη συγκεκριμένη περιοχή η οποία βρίσκεται κοντά στην περιοχή όπου επιχειρούν οι υποστηριζόμενες από τις ΗΠΑ δυνάμεις που μάχονται το Ισλαμικό Κράτος.
