O υποψήφιος με το εθνικιστικό κόμμα των Ελευθέρων, Norbert Hofer, φαίνεται να είναι ο νέος πρόεδρος της Αυστρίας, σύμφωνα με τα exit polls, όπως μεταδίδει το αυστριακό πρακτορείο ειδήσεων.

O Hofer, σύμφωνα με τα μέχρι στιγμής δεδομένα, έχει συγκεντρώσει το 36% των ψήφων. Η ρητορική του είναι αντιμεταναστευτική, κατά της ΕΕ και υπέρ της οπλοκατοχής.

Νέες εκλογές αναμένονται στις 22 Μαΐου, καθώς κανένας υποψήφιος δεν φαίνεται να κέρδισε την πλειοψηφία.
