Οι ισλαμιστές αντάρτες στις νότιες Φιλιππίνες απελευθέρωσαν σήμερα 10 ομήρους από την Ινδονησία, θέτοντας τέλος σε μια περίοδο έντασης ενός μηνός.

Κατά το χρονικό αυτό διάστημα, οι αντάρτες αποκεφάλισαν Καναδό όμηρο τον οποίο κρατούσαν, αφού πέρασε το περιθώριο χρόνου που είχαν ορίσει για την καταβολή λύτρων.

Ο επικεφαλής της αστυνομίας στο νησί Τζόλο, δήλωσε ότι οι όμηροι είναι μέλη του πληρώματος ενός ρυμουλκού πλοίου, ιδιοκτησίας Ταϊβάν, ενώ κρατούνταν από την οργάνωση Αμπού Σαγιάφ. Η απελευθέρωσή τους, έγινε στην οικία του τοπικού κυβερνήτη νωρίς το πρωί, ενώ αργότερα μεταφέρθηκαν σε στρατιωτική βάση.

Ωστόσο, η τύχη τεσσάρων άλλων ομήρων από την Ινδονησία που κρατούνται από διαφορετικό παρακλάδι της Αμπού Σαγιάφ, παραμένει άγνωστη.
