Στον Ιάπωνα βιολόγο Γιοσινόρι Οσούμι απονεμήθηκε το Νόμπελ Φυσιολογίας και Ιατρικής 2016.

Ο Ιάπωνας επιστήμονας έλαβε το βραβείο για τις ανακαλύψεις του πάνω στους μηχανισμούς της αυτοφαγίας. Γεννηθείς στις 9 Φεβρουαρίου 1945, είναι βιολόγος με ειδίκευση στην κυτταρική βιολογία και καθηγητής στο Ινστιτούτο Τεχνολογίας του Τόκιο.
