Ο οίκος αξιολόγησης της πιστοληπτικής ικανότητας Fitch Ratings υποβάθμισε το μακροπρόθεσμο αξιόχρεων τεσσάρων ελληνικών τραπεζών σε CCC από B-, μετά την υποβάθμιση την προηγούμενη εβδομάδα του μακροπρόθεσμου αξιόχρεου της χώρας, επίσης σε CCC.

Ο οίκος αιτιολόγησε την υποβάθμιση επικαλούμενος την πιο αδύναμη οικονομική προοπτική της Ελλάδας, γεγονός που εκθέτει την ποιότητα των στοιχείων του ενεργητικού και τη φερεγγυότητα των τραπεζών σε περισσότερους κινδύνους.

Ο Fitch υποβάθμισε το μακροπρόθεσμο αξιόχρεο της Εθνικής Τράπεζας, της Πειραιώς, της Eurobank και της Alpha Bank.
