Ο επικεφαλής της Αρχής Σιδηροδρόμων της Αιγύπτου, Μεντάτ Σούσα, υπέβαλε την παραίτησή του μετά το πολύνεκρο σιδηροδρομικό δυστύχημα όπου σκοτώθηκαν τουλάχιστον 41 άνθρωποι, είπε σήμερα σε δημοσιογράφους ο υπουργός Μεταφορών της χώρας Χίσαμ Αραφάτ.

Νωρίτερα εισαγγελέας διέταξε να τεθούν υπό κράτηση οι μηχανοδηγοί των δύο τρένων και οι βοηθοί τους για ένα διάστημα 15 ημερών, όπως μετέδωσε το κρατικό πρακτορείο ειδήσεων MENA.

Τουλάχιστον 133 άνθρωποι τραυματίστηκαν όταν τα δύο τρένα συγκρούστηκαν μετωπικά στην Αλεξάνδρεια την Παρασκευή.

Ο πρόεδρος της χώρας Άμπντελ Φάταχ αλ Σίσι διέταξε να διεξαχθεί έρευνα για τις συνθήκες του δυστυχήματος.

Το MENA μετέδωσε επιπλέον ότι οι αρχές συνέλεξαν δείγματα αίματος και ούρων από τον ένα μηχανοδηγό προκειμένου να τα υποβάλλουν σε εξετάσεις για πιθανή χρήση ναρκωτικών ουσιών.
