Αναστάτωση προκάλεσε την Παρασκευή στην Κούβα η πτώση μετεωρίτη, η οποία έγινε αντιληπτή σε μεγάλες αποστάσεις- μέχρι και το Φλόριντα Κις των ΗΠΑ.
Όπως αναφέρεται σε δημοσίευμα του CBS, ο μετεωρίτης εντοπίστηκε από ραντάρ της National Weather Service, καθώς και από δορυφόρο της NOAA. Τα κρατικά ΜΜΕ της Κούβας διαβεβαίωσαν πως επρόκειτο για φυσικό φαινόμενο, διαψεύδοντας τα περί συντριβής αεροπλάνου.
Το συμβάν κατεγράφη σε βίντεο και φωτογραφίες, που κάνουν τον γύρο του Ίντερνετ.
