Τo Παγκόσμιο Οικονομικό Φόρουμ, δημοσίευσε ένα άρθρο σχετικά με το πως το internet «διασχίζει» τους ωκεανούς. Περιγράφει πως το 99% των δεδομένων μεταφέρονται μέσω υποβρύχιων καλωδίων, που απλώνονται στο βυθό των ωκεανών ενώ το άρθρο συνοδεύεται από διάφορους χάρτες που δείχνουν σε παγκόσμιο επίπεδο τις υποβρύχιες συνδέσεις.
Τα σχετικά άρθρα μάλιστα αναρτήθηκαν και στο προφίλ του WEF στο Twitter συνοδευόμενα από τον χάρτη που ακολουθεί και ο οποίος σχεδιάστηκε από το Telegeography για να δείξει τα 278 υποβρύχια καλώδια και τις 21 «διαδρομές» τους.

Μόνο που προέκυψε ένα…μικρό πρόβλημα. Κάποιοι σε αυτόν τον παγκόσμιο χάρτη ξέχασαν να συμπεριλάβουν τη Νέα Ζηλανδία η οποία μάλισταδιεκδικεί τον τίτλο της ηπείρου.
Και αν και οι κάτοικοι της Νέας Ζηλανδίας είναι λιγοστοί δεν ήταν λίγοι εκείνοι που πρόσεξαν αυτή την απαράδεκτη παράλειψη και εξοργίστηκαν. Και το έδειξαν και έκαναν το hashtag #MapsWithoutNZ ένα από τα δημοφιλέστερα των τελευταίων ημερών. Βοήθησαν βέβαια και όσοι ήθελαν να συμπαρασταθούν στους Νεοζηλανδούς αφού είχαν και οι ίδιοι στο παρελθόν ανάλογα προβλήματα με τις δικές τους χώρες αλλά και όσοι είχαν διάθεση για πλακίτσα και τρολάρισμα.
