Χθες, Τρίτη, ανακοινώθηκαν οι υποψηφιότητες της 90ης τελετής απονομής των Όσκαρ και η Meryl Streep έλαβε μια ακόμη υποψηφιότητα για Όσκαρ, αυτή τη φορά για την ερμηνεία της στην ταινία του Στίβεν Σπίλμπεργκ, «The Post».
Η ταινία, με κεντρικό θέμα την αποκάλυψη της αλήθειας πίσω από τον πόλεμο του Βιετνάμ και τη «μάχη» ανάμεσα σε δυο μεγάλες εφημερίδες και τον Λευκό Οίκο για τη δημοσίευση των εγγράφων, είναι επίσης υποψήφια για Καλύτερη Ταινία, πέρα από του Α′ Γυναικειού για την Streep.
«Είναι μεγάλη τιμή να προτείνομαι για μια ταινία που τόσο πολύ αγαπώ, μια ταινία που παρουσιάζει και υποστηρίζει την ελευθερία του Τύπου και το δικαίωμα των γυναικών να έχουν τη δική τους φωνή και άποψη στο εργασιακό περιβάλλον με την πάροδο των χρόνων», δήλωσε η ηθοποιός. «Είμαι περήφανη για την ταινία και τους δημιουργούς της. Ευχαριστώ από τα βάθη της καρδιάς μου».
