Ο εμβληματικός αμερικανός σχεδιαστής, Τομ Φορντ, ανακοίνωσε ότι πέθανε σε ηλικία 72 ετών ο σύζυγός του, δημοσιογράφος, Ρίτσαρντ Μπάκλεϊ.
Ο Τομ επιβεβαίωσε ότι ο Ρίτσαρντ πέθανε «από φυσικά αίτια μετά από παρατεταμένη ασθένεια» στο σπίτι τους στην Καλιφόρνια το βράδυ της Δευτέρας.
Σε δήλωσή του στην Vogue ανέφερε: «Με μεγάλη θλίψη ο Τομ Φορντ ανακοινώνει τον θάνατο του 35χρονου αγαπημένου του συζύγου, Ρίτσαρντ Μπάκλεϊ.
Ο Ρίτσαρντ πέθανε ειρηνικά στο σπίτι τους στο Λος Άντζελες χθες το βράδυ με τον Τομ και τον γιο τους Τζακ στο πλευρό του».

Η καριέρα του Ρίτσαρντ στη δημοσιογραφία (σε θέματα μόδας) ξεκίνησε στα τέλη της δεκαετίας του 1970, με τη δουλειά του να παρουσιάζεται στα New York Magazine, Vogue και Vanity Fair κατά τη διάρκεια των ετών της επαγγελματικής του πορείας.
Το 1999, πήρε τον τίτλο του αρχισυντάκτη της Vogue Hommes International.
Αυτός και ο σύζυγός του Τομ ήταν μαζί για περισσότερα από 30 χρόνια, μετά τη συνάντησή τους σε επίδειξη μόδας το 1986.
